Termites Enjoy our Weather Too
Ah, the lovely Texas weather. Central Texas hasn’t had too many cold spells this year, which is great for many of the residents. After all, people flock here from the northern states to live here permanently because of the mild winter climate. People are not the only ones that thrive here during our so-called winter. Termites love this weather too! Termites typically flare up during the warmer months in spring and early summer. However, this year, we are finding more and more cases of termite invasions due to the heat and humidity. It just isn’t cold enough here to keep them at bay.
Here is an example of what termite damage can look like behind sheet rock. The best time to treat for termites inside a structure is when the wood and plumbing accesses are exposed. In this particular case, most of the damage we spotted was around the window and plumbing sources. The most common area for termites to invade is in the bathrooms around plumbing areas and bath traps/showers.
